Great article and I completely agree with you. There however seems to be some sort of belief amongst some people (that I have spoken to) that its the unbranded sites and not the branded ones that ones that are truly engaging the consumers. I dont agree with that. I also found this finding on a report from Mindshare that consumers are now more inclined towards branded content. Any more info you could share in this regard would be great. 
 
In terms of metrics being used, there doesnt seem to be any unanimous agreement on what should be used. I believe that the metrics used depend on the objective of the campaign. I had written a post about this a few days ago.
