I think Twitter is still waiting for better monetization process or revolutionizing the whole monetization ball game like Google did in 2000 with advent of Google Adwords.

So lets hope for the best. BTW I like the "Subjective Web" paradigm since there's a huge opportunity in that but I doubt indexing tweets or links based on sentiments is still a future scope which I guess if Twitter is able to demystify then I'm sure that will be the stepping stone to Web 3.0 or Semantic Web as well call it :)

Google monetizes ads on search pages. Why wouldn't Twitter do the same ?

While Google indexes the "objective web", Twitter could index the "subjective web" ie real-time and sentiment-based (twitted and retweeted links).
Google results are ranked by sophisticated algorythms, while Twitter ones would be... typically crowdsourced. This leaves a lot of room for market analysts, but really small space for SEO professionals.

I didn't mean that twitter is going to remove its 140 characters limit. I meant that twitter can extend its service into more itinerary services like Twitter news feeds more like Google news feed but 140 chars only.

And for twitter to monetize other than slapping ads over its interface, it has to be considered as another marketing tool/platform where brands & audience connect with each other; there's where the real value of twitter lies other than its mundane data it presents at the first instance.

Nice read but I don't think and dont want to twitter to lift the 140 char limit.
The post sounds as if everyone is waiting to 'exploit' twitter as just another marketing tool.

But, there is no doubt in the fact that twitter search is the future.
