Report on Social Media Marketing Industry
Recently I took part in a survey which was trying to commission a “Social Media Marketing industry report- How marketers are using Social media to grow their business”.
Today I got a mail from the Michael A. Stelzner (Survey Editor, WhitePaperSource Publishing) about its completion and its findings.
This 26 page report can act as a primer to social media marketing for sure. Here are few pointers from the study:
- 1 out of 3 marketers identified the best practices, measuring results and knowing where to begin as top question they have in mind when marketing with social media.
- 72% of marketers have either started or have been using social media for only a few months.
- 64% of marketers are using social media for 5 hours or more each week and 39% for 10 hours or more weekly.
- People of age group 30-39 are most likely to be using social media. [On second thoughts I've doubts on that]
- No. 1 benefit of using social media marketing is gaining eye-balls.
- Twitter, blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn were the top four social media tools used by marketers with twitter leading the pack.
- Twitter is being used by 94% of marketers who have been using social media for years, followed closely by blogs.

So these are few highlights of the survey conducted. Though many points are quite debatable, nonetheless as I said earlier, it can work as a ready reckoner for someone for wants to know more about social media and how, what and where it works.

I apologize as I think even my interpretation was in-correct. It is not 63% increase in budget, it is not 63% increase in no. of companies as well
''Aberdeen found that 63% of the companies in their survey (defined as best-in-class) planned to increase their social media marketing budgets this year. ''
