Facebook = Twitter! How Will Things Be Then?
Facebook announced yesterday that it is merging user profiles and fan profiles starting now and allowing users to make their updates public if they so choose at some point in the near future.
Yes, that’s for you as well to think! One thing is sure that most of us use both the services but since Facebook is slowly moving into twitter-zone and making its model more like a social network as well as microblogging service (for example, previously incorporating “Like fearture” & live feed and now public timeline), what would be our response to it?
This is what Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook had to say:
As people share more, the timeline gets filled in more and more with what is happening with everything you’re connected to. The pace of updates accelerates. This creates a continuous stream of information that delivers a deeper understanding for everyone participating in it. As this happens, people will no longer come to Facebook to consume a particular piece or type of content, but to consume and participate in the stream itself.
As for me, I’m a person who prefers ease of use where most of my friends are. Though till now, my twitter friends and facebook friends overlap just 5-10% but when it the percentage increases, then there’s a question of choosing whom?
So what will you choose in such case? Or you’ve from root separated your twitter & Facebook friends?
Keep yourself glued since I’ll be penning down more thoughts on the same whenever I get sometime!
