According to Comscore, leader in measuring the digital world came out with a report on Indian social networking sites citing 51 percent increase from the previous year to more than 19 million visitors in December 2008.

Top slots were taken by Orkut (understandable since they had first mover’s advantage in Indian Social networking space) followed by Facebook & Bharatstudent.com for no. 2 and no. 3 slots.

What’s more interesting to check is that state of Indian social networking sites like ibibo.com and bigadda.com which reported a negative growth during that same period. Infact it seems like for BigAdda, Google was not indexing it in their results (SEO gone wrong) but now it seems things are fine. So the question is going wrong with Indian SNS?

What I believe is the reason for such trend is nothing to do with Indian social networks but because of gaining acceptance of International social networks among Indian youths. I think the better judge of this is you rather than my singular opinion!
