Daver Winer, the man who pioneered blogging and many others things is a real genuis to say the least. The other day I was reading one of his posts on “How He made $2 Million with his Blog” meme and surprised how many people misunderstand the deal about extracting benefits from blogs. Not that I know it all but come on, isn’t blogs just a platform to communicate (if at all you want to draw some benefits, even monetary). Though there are couple of A-Listers who go on to make million bucks a year but the percentage of bloggers making pennies is heavily skewed. And that is no secret.

These musings started when Dan Lyons (a.k.a. Fake Steve Jobs) ranted about the sorry state of blogs as a money minting machine. That is all fine but the reason he cited is interesting to note. He mentioned that “while blogs can do many wonderful things, making huge amounts of money isn’t one of them“. True! Isn’t it? But there are real tangible as well intangible benefits attached to it for sure.
